Easter Sunday 2010 by CptFarfegnugen Easter Sunday 2010 by CptFarfegnugen
"But the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid; I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He has been raised, as He said. Come, see the place where He lay. Then go quickly and tell His disciples, 'He has been raised from the dead, and indeed He is going ahead of you to Galilee: there you will see Him.' This is my message for you." ~ Matthew 28:5-7

Happy Easter, everyone!

Hopefully, you all know that Easter Sunday is really about the celebration of Jesus Christ's resurrection from the dead, not the celebration of some furry woodland creature giving you Butterfingers.

I've always wondered why people often criticize Christianity for being so oppressive when they've taken our two most sacred holidays and made them about fat guys with flying rheindeer and break-&-enter bunnies. Sure, people are turning away from religion alot lately, but can't we at least keep our holidays?

And no, I'm not some strict uptight fanatic; I went through the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus phase too.

P.S. The Israelite statement is just meant as a joke. I personally think the Israelites are pretty cool.

Very funny! ^^; Sad, but true. <:) I tried looking up easter stuff today, and I had to look through five pages of whores in bunny costumes and other rabbit/egg/chick/secular easter stuff. Blugh. Thanks for posting something genuine and funny!

When you put it like that, we really should celebrate more of the things God has done for us!
The winter solstice was celebrated as a Roman festival, full of eating and drinking. The Christians merged the Winter Solstice and their religious observances to convert people to Christianity, offering them a better way to live. Easter, as you say, is "borrowed" from Ishtar, and rabbits and eggs are associated with new life and spring, as well as rebirth. I like how the angels are talking about the current state of humanity and its past.
